STAY IN SCHOOL

America has seen how even a mild pandemic like Covid-19 can disrupt our educational system. The first primitive attempts were made to continue the education of our future generations by remote learning. Imagine what would happen if our educational infrastructure were destroyed by catastrophic events?

We stumbled into the solution during the Covid-19 pandemic shutdowns, which is home schooling. When the school infrastructure is not available for whatever reason, catastrophic analysis requires the states to develop their own online instructional system. This could be either state-by-state or regional, like a Midwest elementary and secondary online school. When Americans are transformed into refugees, at least the children could continue their development during their crucial years. Even if all the teachers were dead, the children could be instructed by their parents who never took Algebra or a foreign language. Or the children in refugee camps could be rounded up for online learning and be supervised by someone in the refugee camp with no educational credentials.

I am amused by how we have exported our Hollywood movie culture around the world. People everywhere know who the movie stars are. The internet has some international celebrities from their You-Tube videos. Why not instead export through the internet our educational system? In particular we could be sure our system offered the basic foreign language classes like English to Spanish and Spanish to English. The online teachers would instruct the audience with either language being their native tongue.
